Well, now I don't know if I could go...

but....(sob)

how was the selection of furniture?

Looking for a funky piece for our bedroom. Was at Pier 1 the other day and had to have Hubby remind me that the furniture there is not "real". The distressing, the paint inconsistencies etc. were all on purpose and not actual, real furniture.

Looking for unique.

Didn't see a lot of furniture. There was a 4 drawer cabinet. I didn't get the price. But then I wasn't lookinjg for furniture. Some of the cubicles could have had some furniture. Guess I should have refrained from taking the puppy pics; normally that location is just selling birds

Busseys was my favorite flea market when I lived in the area. Now I go to the one on the South Side towards Poteet. It has a carousel that is falling apart, banda music (bink bink bink bink), chingo bling wannabes, and cactus boots!

I have found some really nice pieces of furniture and decor for my house at Busseys, lots of unique stuff. The vendor I would buy most of it from, doesnt seem to be there anymore though I think its still worth checking out though.

Not in SA, but there was a lot of "real" old furniture at the Market Days in Wimberley. Which, by the way, is going on this coming weekend. You won't catch me out there, though. July's heat was interesting. August, not so much.

The Snake Farm is fun. The albino python is a beast. My dad did some business with the old owners (sold them some Palm Trees) . We found out that the owners grew up in the same area that my parents did in Illinois. Small world. It was sad when they had that fire.

I haven't been to Bussey's in a while. I would totally go to that flea market that perticusrex was talking about, but it literally takes an hour to get there from 10/1604. It only takes 30 to get to Busseys. Odd, but true fact about the city of San Antonio.

It showed the red light district very well. Most of the views I see of San Antonio are from the north looking south. This was from the Southwest looking Northeast.
How much was he asking for the knife, if you don't mind me asking...my dad is a knife maker...he makes anything from small folders to gutting knives to large bowies, etc...just wondering what the cost was in comparison to my dad's...thanks!!!

The large bowie was $70.00. He had a smaller bowie for $50.00. Some of the bowies he made and others he bought wholesale.

I thought Bussey's had a policy on not selling any live animals at their facility? Their vendor check-in area use to have a sign that said as much at that south entrance.........????

Well - I went to their website (Bussey's) and it states that to sell or give away animals the vendor has to have a permit from the city of Schertz.......in the future, any of us out there should ask the vendor to see their permit.........see #16 on their page:

We just moved here this month and haven't had the time to go to Busseys's yet. We will soon since its only a few miles up from us.

I am just the person to go ask to see that permit. I actually look forward to it.

Admittedly, I've only been to Bussey's once, but I "flea market" here isn't the same as "flea market" where I'm from. Flea markets where I'm from have lots of great antiques - furniture, jewelry, kitchenware - most of which needs repaired or at the very least painted, etc. The flea markets here seem to be more about selling goods purchased in Mexico - knock off leather goods, CDs, DVDs - along with some handmade stuff, Avon, Mary Kay, puppies...

It's an ok vibe...just a really different vibe.
