I could have sworn hearing sometime in the last year (or last few months) that one of the local TV news stations was closing down. Right now, I see all 3 of them on simultaneously (10PM news).

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Did I misunderstand something? Thanks.

Not in San Antonio. I think it has happened in some smaller markets.

There have been some layoffs. KENS now appears to have a one-person Sports department.

You may be remember the discussion about KSAT and the digital switch over. I don't remember specifics, but it was discussed at length.

I've always wondered....why do we need more than 1 news station in the first place?

Well the answer is obvious but I would take one ORGANIZED news cast than 5 bad ones. The local news has never been organized. I try to watch it because I want to see what is going on politics wise but very little is covered and of what little there is, it is scattered all over the place between homicides and car accidents.

There was the local cable News 9 that shut down a few years ago. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything.

Well I hate having more than one news station. For the people that don't have cable and want to watch something other than the news at 6pm or 10pm, I hate it. All the networks have news at those hours.
