Has anyone ever been to the Casino in Eagle Pass, TX, or Louisiana? Which bus/travel co. would you recommend to take?
Has anyone ever been to the Casino in Eagle Pass, TX, or Louisiana? Which bus/travel co. would you recommend to take? A few friends and I would like to plan a trip and take a bus or drive to one of the casinos, can anyone tell me your recommendations based on stay, travel, and experience? Thanks.

My Wife and I have driven to the one in Eagle Pass. It's OK but nothing fancy. We enjoy the ones in Lake Charles and Marksville much more. On our way to Kansas (where we are now) we stopped at the Winstar Casino in Thackerville OK. which is on the other side of the TV /OK border right off of 35. The Express News Travel Section does have bus trips up there. We went to one near Kansas City Mo last night called the Argosy. It's very nice.
We saw a large number of 1 cent slot at both Casino's. There are a lot of fun to play and they can pay off pretty well.
* The legal age to gamble in OK is 18 and KS is 21. Our 19 year old son had a great time in OK.

As far as bus trips I think we traveled on Coach America. The buses were clean and we have had great drivers.
Stay away from Lucky Ace . One of my co workers took a trip with them approx 6 years ago. The bus turned in front of someone and ended off in a bar ditch. It was torn up so bad that the driver had to be cut out. I think my friends court case exposed the fact that he was too tired to be driving.

save your money and go to vegas, atlantic city, etc. The Indian casinos have the worst holds, like taking candy from a baby. Flights to vegas are cheap anyways.

I cant recommend any specific ones, but I used to go on the bus turnaround trips, thay can be a lot of fun and are pretty cheap or sometimes free! Some include hotels (just for sleep really). I take a gym bag with slippers and a few toiletries (make sure the same bus is picking you up!) and a pillow and small blanket for the trip, any sleep you can get is a good idea. A little before the casino, I pop into the bus bathroom and freshen up/change clothes, it makes a big difference.
Be sure to pace yourself! Every trip I've been on there were people in the group who blew all their money right away and then had to sit around for hours waiting for the trip back. Also, don't plan to use casino ATMs, they are expensive.
If you are planning to put any real money into travel/hotel, you would be better off in Vegas, as another poster mentioned. Any Vegas casino would have better odds and more to offer, and prices are cheap right now. Good luck!

The Indian Casino's do pay off. I have been to Vegas, Lake Thoe, Reno many times. I had much better winnings at Winstar. I know some people can't take 2-3-4 days to fly Las Vegas. There is nothing wrong with a quick turn around bus trip.
Some of the Indian Casinos are not as alluring as those in Las Vegas but there are some that would go toe to toe with them.
It's all for fun anyway. As you know the odds are always in theCasinos' favor. Who do you think pays for those things. US

Has anyone used the Eagle Pass poker room? Any thoughts? Some friends and I are thinking of going down for one of their Saturday tournaments and then playing in the cash games afterward... any ideas on the number of tables, action, quality of play, etc?

On my way to the Casino.........
Thanks! I appreciate the comments from all of you. After discussing the feedback with my friends, we will try the Eagle Pass Casino next weekend. Then the Kinder and Marksville Casino in late August (not sure about the bus trip-depends on availability/vacancies for the weekend we would like to go). I checked into the flights to Vegas, and there are quite a few good deals, will plan a trip to Vegas for October or November.

I was at the EP casino before it was rebuilt, and I would shout NOOOOOOOOOO! It was laughable. Christmas lights decorated the place, in June....and they were just hanging there. It was in a scary 'hood, too....not my cup of tea. Plus, they charged for drinks!!! Little plastic Solo cups were about $4. I had just been to a nice casino in Lake Charles and drinks were on the house. Granted, this was about 5 years ago......I've heard the rebuilt casino is nice, but it's just not my thing.

i havent been to eagle pass in a little over a year. the poker games were set up pretty bad i thought. i figured theyd at least have a 1/2 NL game. the lowest in NL was 2/5 and thats just a little above my head. if one didnt want to cough up that sort of cash they offered limit but that of course is about as boring as watching paint dry. but... i believe they recently opened up a 1/2 Pot Limit, which is an improvement. louisiana and oklahoma still offer better gaming. i dont think eagle pass even had black jack.
yeah, and they charge for drinks as well.
