When I was researching new health ins. 4 years ago, my ins. agent recommended HSA health ins. I chose to go w/ the normal/old school PPO. It seemed that there were too many things to try to figure out myself - like where to open the bank account without being charged a lot, etc. So if you can find out more about where to park your health money, I would love to know about it. Thanks!

I too am looking for a HSA. This is soooo confusing. So far my friend found Amcore Bank is the best with no monthly maintenance fee and pays .85% interest.

I have replied twice and been deleted both times. Here we go again...

I have an account through hsabank.com. Easy to use, online banking, rates go up as balance goes up. You can pay bills with debit/credit card or check. You can enroll as an individual with a qualifying HDHP.

It is a supercharged IRA. A lot of companies even contribute the the deductible for you as a perk to get you to sign up.

1. Can contribute over $5k
2. Income tax deduction on contribution. (save $750 a year in taxes at the 15 % tax bracket, $1250 at the 25% tax bracket)
3. Tax free withdrawal after you reach 65, or use it for medical (very liberal rules)

Has anyone found a site that lists and compares Health Savings Accounts...similarly to what they do at BankRate.com for regular investment options? I've looked at Bank of America - and I really don't want to pay 4.50 per month...even as one of their banking customers (gee..thanks BoA...need 250k to waive the fees). Melon has been offered as an option to us through an employer (due to our High Deductible plan)...and I think they charge < $3 if you start investing the money (free if in savings). You guys have listed some options above (haven't looked in to them just yet). It just seems crazy that we have to hunt down these plans individually. I'm hoping their are some central sites that can help and I just haven't come across theme yet.

bogleheads an investment forum is usually good for finding financial products. search hsa.

Most people there recommend alliant credit union for their hsa account. no maintenance or opening fees and 2.5% interest.
