*sigh* I am coming back from really low crime Germany. *Gulp* I hate guns and have cats. I'm in trouble, aren't I.....

Doubt it. Even when I lived in hood-adjacent Renton, WA I needed neither.

Does anybody have a homemade security system?
or am I the only nerd around here that is thinking about doing that? (sensors on all the doors, connected to a computer and an alarm)

Absolutely, and I do have means beyond the dog. But at the same time it's not like we're living in fear or anything.
