Culebra/Bandera/1604
My wife and I are planning on checking out communities next month and one place we are looking will be by the 1604, between Culebra and Bandera. I would appreciate any input on the schools, crime, shopping conveniences, traffic, etc.
Thanks!

Braun Road, outside of 1604, will be your dividing line between two of the Northside ISD high schools...north of Braun is zoned O'Connor High and south of Braun is zoned for Taft High. Both are good schools but O'Connor would get my nod if it came to picking which side of the road to live and which school to choose! This area is also the midway point between terrific shopping at Bandera and 1604 to the north, and soon to be built terrific shopping at Alamo Ranch Marketplace off Culebra and 1604. You'd be equidistance from either locale.
Traffic can be heavy but at least you will be near the area of 1604 that is a full-fledged highway complete with overpasses and no stop lights as opposed to areas further south where there are traffic lights and no overpasses.

Thanks for the input! Well, we don't have kids yet, but we plan to move to San Antonio to escape the high CA cost of living and start settling down and raising a family. I'm asking about the schools more so I can pick a place that hopefully will be a good investment as well as a good place to live. Are the elementary schools in this area generally good?

Most of the schools in the NISD are good. (That's Northside Independent School District). You can get a lot of info on their website--nisd.net. It's a huge, rapidly growing district.

How far to the airport?
Thanks for all the info. Can anyone estimate how much time I should expect to spend in rush hour driving towards the airport from this area?

I live near Seaworld (south of where you're talking about) and I usually give myself 45 minutes to get to the airport. I'm guessing your time should be 10-15 minutes less.

Goodmanm,
Thanks for your reply and all the other replies. I think this area is really sounding like a possibly good fit for me and my wife.
