I seem to be living up to my user name today.

Does anyone know of a 24 hour coffee shop in San Antonio? I went to the Starbucks in the Quarry a few nights ago and found they now close at midnight.

Jim's is generally open 24 hours, although it's more restaurant than coffeehouse.

San Antonio is seriously lacking in real coffee houses. There are a few (not Starbucks) but their hours are limited as well. Timo's on San Pedro (north downtown) is a cool place (not 24 hours). A more traveled location with good coffee is the Daily Grind (I think that's the name?) on Huebner, they also have good coffee, but again not 24 hours. There are others, but as far as I know we have no 24 hour coffee houses in SA. If someone knows of some, please enlighten us.

Yeah, I like grind's coffee and service. I haven't been there in a long time.

Personally, I would love a good espresso roasting shop. Hell, I'd love a shop that actually just carried a wide selection of espresso. I'm really tired of dark roasts.

There's Wildfire Coffee at Huebner Rd and Churchill but I think they close at 7. It's a nice place though. Not sure about their espresso mix though, haven't tried it.

Trafficdogn, try What's Brewing on Rhapsody. We don't offer coffee service but we do fresh roast all the time. I'm sure we can get together a blend to suit your needs.

As far as 24 hour coffee goes, I would love to see something non-commercial that has hours to meet the late night crowd.

That's what I was afraid of - it looks like I'm out of luck. I saw this story about Ruta Maya reopening and moving to North Main, but no mention of any late-night hours.

The Downtown Blog

I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I know Angel, the owner of the new space (potentially "Ruta Maya") on Main St., and he was toying with the idea of making it a 24-hour place. He at least wants to keep it open until midnight. According to him, the real issue will be demand. So please, when it opens, GO and STAY LATE! I think he'll also serve beer/wine and food.

He has another job for his bread and butter, and his desire to open up another cafe is purely for the love of coffee and coffee shops.

He also mentioned the idea of opening another cafe with roasting services to boot.
