Saving several seats at the movie theather...
Yestarday was the 3rd time I got to seat at either the second or third row inside the Palladium Theather, and I even got there 20 mins early.
One of the reasons is that all of those 3 times there is always a different person saving several seats (6 or 8)for other people. Is this fair? I think I have enough of that, next time, even if seats are saved I am not going to care.

No, saving a seat for one, maybe two people is acceptable, but 6 too many. This thing of bringing in a whole family from somewhere else they are meeting us here, shouldnt be. I'll go with Im meeting someone else, and Im saving one seat, or two, not for a baseball team. I just sit down within 4 or 5 seats and watch the movie.

Honestly, I think it is obnoxious that people do this. If your whole group (of more than 2 people that you are saving seats for) cannot be there to sit down, then you should be forced to either 1) wait for them outside of the theater or seating area or 2) give up the seats when someone else wants to sit there.
It is extremely disrespectful that people feel entitled to do this.
Here's one for you, even takes the cake of your experience....I had my 2 children with me one day to see Alvin and the chipmunks (OMG< i know..poor me)....got to the theatre and it was packed (again about 20 minutes before screen time). I finally saw a gap of about 5 seats, next to the gap were 2 small children (no older than 3 yrs old), my children and I sat down, and about 2 minutes later the "parent" confronted me saying I took their (the rest of the family's seats). I was appalled, who makes a baby save thir seats for them? Needless to say I did not want to get in a huge fight in the middle of the packed theatre, and I was outnumbered by 3 adults (who the 2 babies were saving seats for), who were all ready to attack me. Needless to say, my children and I left the theatre, I went back to the box office and had them change my tickets to the next showing.

Palladium is ridiculous. What John Santikos built was beautiful, but to then just let everyone fend for themselves the way he does is disgraceful. They've got a LOT to learn there in terms of customer service, but I suppose I shouldn't be shocked when you've got a 18 year-old manager who's juggling a mass handful of 16 year-old employees.
I say BRING BACK USHERS. Give em' the power to throw out the text-messaging, talking, obnoxious, phone-ringing, crying jerks who ruin the film for the rest of us. It worked in the '50s and '60s... It can work now.
For now, I'd rather sit in my OWN home theater setup: I've got a 7.2 setup, 100-inch 1080p display (projection) and enough power in there to rattle every window I own. Who's bringing the popcorn?

I will say this, for the Palladium Theather IMAX(Screen) or any screen for that matter, for opening weekend movies get there an hour early for a good seat. YES AN HOUR EARLY. I am 1 of thoes that usualy goes in groups of 4 or 6. We wait in line go inside the theater sit down and get up 20 minutes before the showing to get popcorn etc. We then come back to here the GF's comlain about people giving them a hard time for saving seats. There are other times when the GF's will go get the popcorn & I tell the people giving me a hard time the same thing "They went to get popcorn. Their reaction would be (yea right) I then chime in with - Plus, We've been here for more than an hour, if you want a good seat then you need to get here that early as well"
The IMAX screen there used to be assigned seating (When buying your tickets you choose your seats). I wish it was still that way.

There are 6 of us in my family. We also go at least an hour before a new movie comes out. Before the movie starts, my husband or I will take the girls to get the popcorn and whatever else while the other one stays with the seats. So, yes there are some of us that are telling you the truth that the seats are really taken. What I don't understand is when a large group gets there within minutes of the movie starting and they expect to be able to find seats for all of them together.

Too many. If the party can't be there on time take two if you need them. Let them sort things out. Very rude behavior. If they get aggressive go to theater management and get them thrown out.

My peeve is--I get there way early for the movie, and choose my AISLE seat, knowing that I'm going to end up with usually around 15 or so butts in my face because no one else can seem to make it to the show on time. I purposely sit on the end, so I know I am going to have to deal with people getting up and down, etc. but the ones that come in 5 minutes late, chitter chatter at the end of the aisle and totally RUIN my movie just chap my ass. And if I say anything, I'm the bad guy.
Friday night at Embassy for D-9, it was BAD. Rude people in ABUNDANCE. The girl behind me would NOT shut up, even after about 5 nasty looks from me. If you want to chat, go to Starbucks.
Don't even get me started on the cell phones.

Yall are a lot nicer about this issue than I am. I have zero problem letting those that think they are entitled to ruining MY paid-for movie experience what the deal is.
