I was visiting SA, and Don't live there. And are you folks going to deny that there is a Mexican place on every corner? I only went to SA for my kid's BMT graduation. I am tried from the heat in SA, and will try to remember to spellcheck in the future. BTW, I have been to Mexico and had food from there and It was nothing like the Tex-Mex in SA. Moderator cut: off topic
In terms of Red Sox and Yankees, real Sox and Yanks fans are cool with each other, and there are hardly ANY Irish in Boston amymore, we have lots of diversity, and a GREAT public transportation system, we are walker friendly and oh yeah CLEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will add that not all of Texas sucks, Padre Island, Galveston, and Austin are great. Also very unimpressed with ARMED security guards in the grocery stores near Lackland.

I'm glad that my first visit to the Riverwalk wasn't a couple of weeks ago when it was packed with tourists visiting the Cowboys' training camp or in January during the few days each year when the river is drained and cleaned. Those visits were not my favorite trips to the Riverwalk. It's difficult to effectively generalize about a place when you've only visited it once.

I don't think there's any question that Boston beats SA in overall unique atmosphere, history and variety of foods, but I wouldn't want to live there!
I also don't see how his comments needed to be blasted by some of you: yes, the weather is insanely ridiculous this summer, yes we have what seems to be an over-abundance of Mexican food places (as I've rightly complained about, as well) and yes, quite a lot of places have graffiti and trash (my observation of Boston, too), but the people here are so much nicer than New Englanders
Btw, what's "BMT"?

I'm going to presume you mean "tired" and not "tried" of the heat. Now, granted, San Antonio has faults of its own creation, but you can't blame the weather on the city. After all, it is in SOUTH TEXAS! If you learned anything in the Boston school system, it obviously wasn't earth science. The closer you get to the equator, the hotter it is!

That's because Tex-Mex is its own cuisine!

Basic Military Training . New Englanders can be rude, I am from DC , and it took a while for me to get use to the area, but once you have a New Englander as a friend, they are a friend for life. I recently moved to a town south of Boston and here everyone is friendly, it reminds me of the south. I think it is because we are so close to the beach.

Armed security guards? Never seen them and I live on Military Drive, very close to the base. Do you mean the grocery store on base? Then that's different. Please be specific.

The area directly around Lackland is not exactly known as a nice and safe part of the city.....

Galveston is great??

Ok now we can settle down and realize the OP has no idea what is going on down here. I just moved from Houston so trust me I KNOW that Galveston is NOT great!!! I do not know what you were drinking but it must have been good. There is no way, under any conditions anyone can say Galveston is GREAT. No comparison to south padre island at all.
