That's Austin, of course. However, others may prefer a simpler, more understated life in San Antonio free of that kind of mental stimulation.

Robert123;
I have read your numerous posts that take a not very subtle shot at the intelligence of the residents of San Antonio. I would be interested to know some examples of what makes a mindset "sophisticated."

I did not say anything about intelligence. I was using the adjective "sophisticated" in tandem with my comment about the existence of a world-class university in Austin. I was going by dictionary definitions of sophistication that include: "complex; worldly-wise; altered by education; reflecting educated taste."
Not everyone places a value on education or sophisticated taste, and that's perfectly fine. There is no value judgment in that. I'm just offering my opinion that San Antonian society as a whole is less reflective of these tastes.

Your quote from another post: "I live in San Antonio only for now, and do not recommend it because it's a culture pretty much populated by the braindead."
Not to beat a dead horse but I would still be interested in examples of the "sophisticated mindset".

I just happened to be in the Austin area this weekend and if your looking for some rude people, Austin is for you. Here in SA I can GENERALLY say, we are more friendly and inviting.
I asked my co-workers if they've ever experienced this from Austin or if it was just me, and needless to say they all agreed. Some went so far as to say the cause was the out of towners who brought their bad mentality with them.
I can't agree with this simply because I don't have facts only an experience.

Austin is better for the young, San Antonio is better for families. You couldn't go wrong with either city to me. I prefer SA's freeway system though. Much better laid out than Austin's. Austin's freeways seem to stop and go (become a freeway, then turn into a boulevard or something).

Lets cut the bs. Austin has the greatest bs marketing campaign that ever existed. It could sell ice cubes to the eskimos. SA is far superior to Austin . The neighborhoods, restaurant, housing, transportation and culture is far superior. The government and UT belongs to all of Texas not the city of austin so lets not include them. Yes, the hills in West Austin are beautiful, but so are the ones in North and NW SA. What is sickening is that Austinites masturbate their city to be the best not only in Texas but the USA. Sorry Austin, you are not the prettiest gril at the dance.

Not sure if you know this, but San Antonio has several 'world-class' universities...University of Texas San Antonio, Trinity University, Incarnate Word, Our Lady of the Lake,...and several other smaller colleges. There is also a branch of the UT medical school. SA has better museums, better theatre/orchestra and a professional sports team. I adore Austin (and live here), but I have to give SA the nod for a bigger more sophisticated 'real' city.

I think Robert123 actually teaches at UTSA, and thinks they are a bunch of rednecks. He just doesn't like the lack of "vibe" here.

If you think Austin has a great marketing campaign, look at North Carolina's marketing campaign! Anyways, I would choose San Antonio by a SLIGHT margin although I love both cities I just like the attractions better there
