Why choose San Antonio over Austin?
Just wondering your thoughts on this.... So what are the reasons you would choose SA over Austin? My friend who was going to move here next year...now says she would rather live in Austin. This is kind of upsetting to me...so just wondering on the big differences. Thanks!

No, because I think this thread escalates into a flame war and I really want no part of it. I don't want to say something that either leads to something bad or say something in the middle of something that is bad and get myself in trouble.
But I can give you the basic run down of what will be said.
Why choose SA:
Low cost of living.
Friendly people.
Fantastic shopping.
Great downtown.
Beautiful hill country.
Good schools.
Cheap housing.
Weather in the fall, winter, and spring.
Cons:
Summer time weather.
Sprawl.
Not enough park space.
Traffic.
Cons if you know who post in here:
Not Sophisticated.
Ugly people.
Uneducated.
So enjoy. lol

One final thing. And this is my opinion, as well as many others, so take it for what you will.
The only real difference between the two is that one is an extremely over-the-top hyped city. Extremely.
And it's not San Antonio.

Reason: No reason to mention names. It just inflames the trolls.

Have your friend price out real estate in Austin and then come back and see what the same amount of money in a similar location in San Antonio will buy. Have your friend try to drive across Austin. If your friend has an appreciation for old houses and history, there is no parallel. Your friend will be moving here if he/she has a lick of sense.

Taraaa, right now I live in SA but hubby went back to school, got another degree and as much as we wanted to stay since this is hometown we are getting moved to Austin for a job at IBM. When we have been up there looking around the neighborhoods we found a lot more parks than SA and everysome had the "get out and do something" idea vs. the I am going to buy a six pack and have a bbq or camp in the park! The cost of living is a lot higher there wonder is its worth it..hmmm have to see.
