Last night I went to the Luna middle school open house for my 6th grader--- what a mad house! However, my son was not able to be with me-he was out of town with grandparents and they have not got him back on time. But I am trying to find a map of the inside of the school, so that when he returns i can prepare him for where to go on Monday morning. Does anyone know how I can obtain a map of the inside of the school- they did not have them at the open house.

You should ask for a map from the school office. I have noticed that my kids' schools never post maps of the school online. It's probably for the best, since it's a security risk. You don't really want strangers to be too comfortable with getting into your kid's school building and finding their way around. Let them check in at the office first.

yeah, I thought about that- posting it on line would probably be a no no. I just hate that he is going to have to go on his first day and have NO idea of where to go---and I dont think he will let mommy go with him

Have you SEEN Luna MS? It's HUGE!!! And not particularly simple to navigate.

nicholasa ~ it's probably too late now, but there MIGHT be somebody at the office. They should have maps. My kids got them when they first started there and it helped tremendously. (Wish we still had 1 of them, I'd getcha one over the weekend.) If you can't get one before Monday, you might try to take your son fairly early and go in to the office with him and ask for one.

Good luck! I'm betting your son will have a great experience! My kids loved Luna!

Not to be flippant, but is this such a threat? Number of school invasions in
SA?, Bexar County?, South Texas?, Texas?

Not having seen the school drawings, I suspect there are multiple halls-some with classrooms on both sides, some halls with classrooms on only one side, probably an auditorium and a gym. How did I do?

I am not downplaying a virtual non event, but how many 16 and under girls get pregnant during a year?, and what is the dropout rate? I think there are misplaced paranoia.

even if they put a map online teachers move to different rooms all the time. a basic map of the layout would not suffice.
I can tell you that Luna will have many teachers and admin available to make sure that all students know where they are going. It is a big school but easy to learn. It is a great school. Even if your child was not able to attend the 6th grade camp or orientation they will be fine this first week.

"Its my first day, Teacher"

Usually they have staff directing the Newbs, I've seen it done every school I delivered to.

Yeah, I took my oldest to 6th grade open house. Big difference from the middle school I went to. It is huge, but I think most classes, besides the electives, are in the "G" hallway.
