Anyone Living in Riverstone-Alamo Ranch?
Hi All!
My family and I are relocating to S.A. and are looking for information about this area (Riverstone at Alamo Ranch) as well as info in general about S.A. Our home should be finished in the next couple of weeks and we don't know a soul there, or the area at all. We currently live in West Palm Beach, Fl. and are excited about the move. I chose S.A. for many reasons, but mainly because we really liked the people that we met along the 2 days days we were there. Where we currently live there are just too many factors that make it more and more difficult to tolerate, such as the hurricanes (we got hit with 2 in 2 weeks time, 2 summers back=$30,000 in damage to our home), outrageous home insurance prices (we pay over $2,000) and low pay for teachers (starting salary $33,800). Just wondering if anyone has any comments. I have heard so many great things about S.A., and personally loved what I saw. It is beautiful there. It was also a great plus to me the fact that there is so much Mexican culture, history and great food. I lived in Mexico with my husband for 10 years where he grew up, and I felt that he might feel a little closer to home there.

Welcome to the area. There are several one the board here that live out that way. After welcome I would say get a map and learn how the streets work. That is a big problem for newcomers here I read. SA uses a spoke and wheel system vs. a grid system. Once you learn the difference everything is easy to get to or if you do pass it take a turnaround if you are by the freeway! Hopefully you will love it here!

Thanks for the advice, and the friendly welcome! When my husband and I were there, we did notice that it was a little tricky. We had to use the turnarounds quite a bit to figure our way. But at the same time the loops and parrallels seem to be convinient once you get the hang of it. We are looking forward to the change in about 2 weeks. See you all soon!

Also moving to Alamo Ranch!
Hi! We are also moving to Alamo Ranch! We are scheduled to close June 22. Pulte is building our home. I am not familiar with the area you are referring to. We have never lived in San Antonio and are so excited to get there! Welcome to Texas!

Hi Nurse Dana!
We are moving into Riverstone in Alamo Ranch that is built by D.R.Horton. I'm not sure where we are in comparison to the Pulte part of A.R., but sounds like we'll be neighbors. We close May 11th, so maybe we'll run into each other pretty soon.

Hello Staram and welcome to San Antonio.
We live in Riverstone @ Alamo Ranch. So far it has been a quiet neighborhood with friendly neighbors.
The HOA is believe is planning something when the community center is finished in early summer so the neighbors can get to now each other. I'm not sure about this but it would be a good idea.
As far as comparisons between Pulte and D.R. Horton, these communities are in Alamo Ranch but in different areas. As you will see, Alamo Ranch encompasses a vast area.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Hi yosoywey!
Nice to hear from another new neighbor. I hope that the HOA does organize the get together, that would be great considering we don't know anyone out there yet. Can't wait to meet you and all of our new neighbors/friends. I sent you a personal mail to ask a few more questions.

DR Horton is opposite of Alamo Ranch Parkway from Pulte. Not far, just a walking trail away! We'll be there June 22 or before. Not long now! Our home here is still on the market but we are moving anyway! See you soon!

I'm in Riverstone and like it a lot. Though D.R. Horton cut down a lot of trees initially, they have been planting a lot of new "older" trees, and have also been leaving more existing trees intact. I think that the entrance is kinda "blah" though, considering we're in Alamo Ranch. Wildhorse (by Braun), for example, has a much nicer looking entrance.
Neighbors here are great though.

We presently live in Florida as well. We live north of West Palm Beach in Martin County.
We're building a pulte home in Alamo Ranch, the McMullen series.
We've been out twice now and love what we've seen. It's a little tough not being able to see the progress of the build but Pulte has kept us up to date with pictures and weekly updates. I wish I could be out there to check the progress but we're still excited about the move.
Good luck!
