Any idea what a local news anchor would make a year? I have a nephew that wants to go into that field but not sure what to expect....

Would be interesting anyway....

Too much given the poor quality of news we have in SA. One of the Parage magazines last year that gives salaries showed the lead sports anchor at KSAT12 making $250,000/year.

IMO, the bottom is about to fall out of that market. I have friends who work in TV stations who lately are seeing colleagues laid off and mandatory unpaid furloughs. There's even talk of salary reductions instead of raises. Right here in SA, KENS eliminated a sports anchor position this year. TV journalism doesn't seem to be any better as a career path than newspaper journalism.

What?
I've seen high school kids doing the same thing just as good as they do it.

That is because that sports anchor called in sick, then made a post on a social networking site about how great it was to be in Washington D.C. at the inauguration. I too would lose my job if I played hookey and got caught.
