hmmm, I think there might be more to my version of the zonie. I'll have to ask the guy that always called them that. I know it wasn't exactly a term of endearment when he used it..

It certainly wasn't a "term of endearment" when locals called those of us from AZ that!!!!

Today's fun - Hwy 90 / 10 / ??? Intersection going south. Car in far right lane wants to go east instead of west on 90. Nearly stops on the highway and finally makes a left, cutting off a F-350.

If that 350 would of hit him, it wouldnt of been pretty.

MY observation is, the school zones on potranco, if you notice the speed limit starts after you pass autozone, and ends after valero. Then it starts again about 500 feet before you get to dougas and ends right after that carwash. What I've been laughing about is people go 20MPH all the way LOL, they dont even pay attention to the signs.

Same thing happens on Tezel in Braun Station just north of New Guilbeau. There is one school zone for Stevenson Middle School‎ that ends and some room before the next one begins for Braun Station Elementary. In that short distance the speed limit is 35 MPH, but people still do 20 MPH; which is ironic in that in other schools zones they don't bother to slow down at all!

Then there is the new four-way stop just north of Braun Station Elementary, which is a real joy...last Friday we had some dumb punk sitting at one stop sign texting while people at the other signs waited for him to go. Then once he suddenly decides he is finished, he felt he could just pop right out into the intersection. Fortunately for him, he saw a big ol' mean Jeep bearing down on him (me) in time for him to stop, otherwise I would've gone through him like the proverbial poop through a goose! I am sure I would have gotten a scratch on my bumper but his Civic would been crumpled like a Coke can!

Texas needs a ban on cell phones and texting while driving, and it needs to be enforced (along with all the other traffic laws in this state).

If anyone lives off of Evans by Spectrum you'll know what I am talking about.

Traffic backs up in the morning on Evans for people to turn left onto 281N. One lane eventually turns into 2 turn lanes so there is quite a bit of traffic. The same people every day like to drive past all the people waiting for the light and as soon as the light turns green and there is space they cut in front of everyone waiting to turn. This is every single day, with the same people. Even if you leave no room they still aim their car into yours knowing you'll stop. I wish they would install some lane barrier there so people can not cut over.

Its not recent, but its the worst one that Ive had happen to me.

At the 90E/W interchange south of downtown, I was exiting to go East and a huge Winnebago decided at the last minute that he really didnt want to go West afterall and shoved me right off the ramp into the grass and oleander bushes. I was pissed. After I was able to get back up on the road, I tried to catch up to him to have a little talk but traffic was working against me and I missed the exit he took. I think he knew what the story was and it wasnt going to be a pleasant encounter. I hope that guy had a transmission failure in the middle of nowhere.
