I would watch a few episodes of the Dog Whisperer. Don't laugh either. Everything he says and does actually works and mine are so much better after I started watching him and practicing some of the things he does. It's all about you, not the dog. You can watch it on Hulu.com. Here's some: Hulu - Dog Whisperer: Sadie and Calder - Watch the full episode now. (http://www.hulu.com/watch/74176/dog-whisperer-sadie-and-calder - broken link)

My parents used Bark Busters and it worked great....it is a national company with local franchises...it costs about $500...they do a thorough assessment and then they "Train the Trainer"...they correct the things that you are doing wrong...they teach you to the to be the leader of the pack and the dogs will follow pretty everything you want. Very similar to things you see on TV with Caeser "the dog Whisperer".

Just google their website and you will find the local franchise.

myip1983 - thanks for wanting to get you and your dog into some training classes! I'm not sure what you and your dog's needs are - but we (myself and my rottweiler) train with Gary Oswalt at Rob Cary Pet Resort. His classes are $99 for six weeks of classes, held once per week for one hour each. After your first session, if you sign up again, the cost is $89/six sessions. You can see their training schedule at www.robcary.com I selected Gary specifically because of his experience and comfort level, working with large strong breeds of dogs. My guy is a rescue and we had some pretty serious issues early on....

Good for you for doing your homework on finding a Dog Trainer! Not all dog trainers are equal if you know what I mean. I would recommend you find one that trains with positive reinforcement, as negative or adverse training is 'old school' - even though there are still trainers out there using that approach.

Good luck finding a trainer you want to train with - and HAVE FUN with your dog while training!!
