Please tell me where you're driving. Everywhere I drive in SA people are driving well below the speed limit and it drives me crazy. And don't get me started on the people stopping at offramps. I grew up in Houston and am use to speeds at or above the speed limit and other drivers who can successfully merge on and off a freeway. This is one of my worst complaints about SA.

I agree to all this too.....for the most part. It really depends on what part of town you're on in SA. 281/1604 and a lot of the northside, traffic goes pretty damn fast and above speed limits. Also, going on 35 North like going to Northeast side suburbs and heading towards Austin or Cibolo/Schertz area where I reside. Where I'm finding the bulk of slow driving is heading south, downtown, southside, and westsides of town. It seems like people seem to never be in a hurry over there or something.

On a serious note, I feel your pain, as a driver on the east coast, I thought I had to be on my toes, but it pales in comparison to the drivers here. People are in a hurry to get nowhere fast! I've never seen so much lane changing, tailgating, and cutting off in my life. And to make it worse, I don't think some of the models on these cars these San Antonio folks drive came with turning signals.

I completely agree - I'm from the east coast as well, and MOST (can't say all-there ARE some good ones out there ;o) ) of the drivers here make those guys look like drivers ed instructors! I refuse to drive in the rain unless it's absolutely unavoidable. I think the problem is that most people don't modify their driving when it rains - they still cut you off, don't use their blinkers, slam on their brakes, take up a lane and a half, etc. I guess that's easy to say having driven in blizzards before, huh? I love you San Antonio, I truly do, but this is one area that I wish would change! lol

Driving in rain? We don't get rain often, how does one learn these skills? I have driven in Houston in pre-hurricane torrential rains and the idiots were driving in excess of 80......something about their IQs and driving speed.

One night i was driving north on I-45 toward The Woodlands. In my rear view mirrror, i see seven or eight police cruisers , lights flashing pursuing a fleeing car. I pull over on the shoulder to let them by. Five minutes later came the second wave of cruisers, another six or so, I again pull onto the shoulder and stop. Five minutes later came a THIRD wave, probably with donut crumbs fresh on their shirts, and for the THIRD time, I pull over on the shoulder and stop to let Houston's finest by. I had my hazard flashers on, ,only this time, one of the cruisers decides he need to go into the infield, ON MY RIGHT TO PASS. He gave me a "go to hell" look and finger point that somehow I was at fault for his poor driving.

To the original poster...Houston Drivers are crazy! I dare you Houstonians to just press the gas when the light turns green. Houston is the only city that the red light is orange for the first 3 seconds. As far as San Antonio drivers, well we suck. But I ask, is it better to know how to drive and then just toss those skills and common sense out of the window as soon as you twist the key or to just plain not understand how to drive and twist the key. The major complaint that I have here is not the slow driving in the fast lane, its everywhere. It's not the driving in wet weather or snow, the one time we had it in '85. Its people not planning ahead. Driving 60-70 MPH down the highway in the middle lane and then realizing, OOOHHH thats my exit in 10 feet, switching 2 lanes and trying to make the exit instead of taking the next exit and turning around. No wonder they don't use thier blinkers, they dont have time. Also, the idiots who think, in rush hour traffic, "man that line is long, I'll just go up to the front so I don't have to wait as long." Sorry buddy not in front of me you don't. We all waited, now so will you. Also, I have driven quite extensively in every major city in this state. The problems we have here in San Antonio are in every city.

There will be rush hour traffic, and all the sudden the traffic clears up and people still drive 15mph in packs like there is still traffic. That is when you get the crazy drivers who zoom past you and cut in front of you to get home.

Blinkers in San Antonio are to let you know someone is going to cut in front of you with a few inches to spare then slam on their brakes so they don't hit the car in front of them. Sometimes I feel as though I am playing a real life video game.

Yes, exactly.. On ramps you're supposed to speed up to merge in with traffic, not slow down.
