Default Any historic, but still nice high-density apts near downtown, riverwalk?

I have just learned that my fiance and I will be moving to San Antonio at the beginning of May 2010. We are currently living in Kansas City, MO and really like it here.

We are currently living in an older style apartment building, and are located literally right across the street from KC's Country Club Plaza. The area is easily walkable and the we are looking for something similar in the SA area.

So I guess the question is are there any areas with high-density apartments similar to those that you would find here...

nicname:

First, welcome. I visited KC last year and really enjoyed it - a very pretty city.

Our downtown doesn't have lots of residential buildings like the one's you've posted, but we do have a few. The Brady Building and the Towers at the Majestic are run as the same complex, though they are different buildings. They are literally in the middle of downtown. But while the exterior of the buildings are great, the interiors are quite dated and leave much to be desired.

The Exchange Building is located a few blocks north, and is actually on the river (a pretty quiet part of the river). Also a good building, with the additional perk of having the 2 best restaurants in SA (Le Reve and Sandbar) on the ground floor.

The best person to talk to about this is Debbie Maltz (Centro; google it); she manages leasing for several of these buildings (including The Casino, Toltec, and some others) and is very knowledgable about downtown residential.

Let us know when you get here - I'll buy you guys a beer.
