interesting....i graduated in Dec. 05'. bet there's a good chance we crossed paths in a few classes. it seems that there were neat opportunities if you wanted to travel and re-locate, but i was always in relationships where i wasn't willing to up and leave. perhaps one day i'll get out there again.

What kind of marketing positions are you looking for? The term "Marketing" is so loosely used these days. Are you looking for marcom, brand manager, market research, etc. type positions?

Real marketing jobs here are far and few and I would suggest you look at Dallas, Austin, or Houston if you are moving to Texas. Those cities are more savvy when it comes to marketing and more opportunities for you. Salaries here are generally lower than those cities. Check out the San Antonio chapter of the American Marketing Association and the International Association of Business Communicators if you want to connect with people in marketing/communications/PR in town.

Thank you. This is very helpful. I have never visited Dallas, but I have visited Houston a couple of times and Austin once. I liked Austin, but I like San Antonio better and I would really like to be able to move there. As the Marketing Manager for a not so large company, I have had the opportunity to work in different areas of marketing, from planning and strategizing to branding, advertising and research. I have also acted many times as the Business Analyst for different projects and I have experience in the international arena as my company offers its products not only to the American consumers (with a strong focus on the ethnic segment), but also to the Canadian, Australian, and some European consumers. So my area of interest is diverse...

Sounds like you have some good experience under your belt. Dallas is a fast-pace city similar to Houston in terms of feel. The city is very polished looking and new, way different than SA. Dallas is home to a lot of corporate headquarters and it draws a lot of talents there and marketing is a good fit there. SA is a big city with a small town feel and a lot of people here like that small town mentality which I believe why SA is behind in terms of development and adapting to progress and change. Unfortunately, you will find companies here view marketing the same ways - more old school thinking.

Yes, I think it would be difficult and you might be better off getting a marketing job with a national company headquartered else where but with an office in San Antonio.
