Please tell me when you have ever seen a dog poop on a restaurant patio.

it's great logic. so a restaurant owner can decide that his/her patio is a people AND dog place. brilliant.

Then that would be a dog place and since I don't have one, then I wouldn't go there.

I will just say we have two 40lb dogs and have enjoyed taking them to a few restaurant patios around town and several more in other cities. We always call ahead to make sure the restaurant doesn't mind. Every experience has been great! Our dogs are well behaved and enjoy the attention from other patrons and waiting for food to fall off the table. Obviously some breeds have no business attempting this and businesses should be able to turn away customers with dogs who might be a problem.

Well, I see tons of dog poop -- left by those considerate dog owners we have all grown to love -- on sidewalks, the road, driveways, parking lots and my lawn. But, sure, it's probable all San Antonio dogs will pause mid-squat and think, "Heeeey, wait a minute....I can't poop here. Not on the patio. Let me just hold it until I double back to that porta-potty I saw on the corner."

The cry and scream for no reason and often ruin and interrupt adult conversations. I don't want kids around me while I am on a date with my husband or out with friends. A restaurant is not a day care! Bring a picture of your kid. Most restaurants won't even let a groomed, quiet dog on a leash into their restaurant but will let a screaming, snot nosed McDonalds take out bag carrying kid in and will even sit them next to me. Blech.
My dog will stay home. I started out in life like all other adults as a kid.

I am in Germany at the moment, at you see dogs in restaurants here all the time (although it is more common in villages than it is the city) as well as most other places (stores, etc). I have no problem with it, and in the many years that I have lived or visited this great country I have yet to see an issue with it.
