Good, Honest Mechanic In The NW Area
Anyone know of any good, honest mechanics in the Northwest area of San Antonio?
Also, are Jiffy Lubes here okay for oil changes and tune-ups?

We have used Potranco Motors on Potranco Rd (outside 1604) since 1994. They have grown tremendously with all the growth out this way since then, but remain fair, honest and very reasonable. If it don't need fixing, they don't try and fix it. They also have the car ready when they SAY they will (good thing to be able to count on). Don't know their names, but lots of their folks have been there forever, so they must be as good with their mechanics are they are with their customers! Hope this helps!!!

I have an excellant AND honest mechanic, took me YEARS to find one! And no, he's not a relative or a friend, just a super reliable dude - I almost died of shock when he called one time and said that the problem was simply a loose wire, and there would be no charge - HUH? NO CHARGE??! I'm used to being ripped a new a-hole every time I drop my car off at a dealer. Anyhoo, his name is Roger at Texas Battery on Basse Road, the number is 732-6324. The place is really small, and thus sometimes you might have to wait a few days to drop your car or it might take a tad longer than the dealer, but at least you won't have to take out a small loan to pay a crook for some phantom fix.

Tillers on Bandera, hands down. Will do the work you asked for and not try to oversell you around the barn. We tried another mechanic and they could not do anything without trying to up-sell us gravy makers at everyturn. Went to Tillers and they did exactly what we asked without the beee esssss!

We have used Ron over at Total Care Automotive on Grissom for about 4 years. It took us a long time to find someone we trust and whose work has held up.

Cambridge Auto on Fredericksburg by USAA is where i take my car for major work. They are expensive but offer a 2 year warranty on repairs and have always fixed my cars right. I trust them more than the dealer.

Yep, talk to Roger at Texas Battery.
Great guy, and, honest to a fault.
I've been dealing with Texas Battery since way before Roger
bought in from Mr. Johnson 12-15 years ago.
Another is Anthony at Star Automotive on Fred Rd,
across from the Sonic, 10-12 blox inside Loop 410.
My self and my family, back to my grandfather,
have used them whenever needed, since the late 1950s.
Anthony apprenticed under Stanley Wilson.
Star Automotive was Stanley Wilson's place up until about 1985.
Stanley is another good one,
he is now off Bandera Rd, on Eckert.
