unless someone knows something I don't, there is no law against riding your bicycle on a highway. You probably can't drive it down the middle of a vehicle lane, though. Common sense should cover that one.

There's too many different stories out there right now and some contradict the others and others aren't updated. I don't see why a construction worker that didn't know either of them would lie about what the driver of the truck said, though. I also know that sometimes things can pop out in front of you even on a road you drive down almost every day for years. I missed a pedestrian by barely a foot last week day to his stupidity and I've almost hit joggers and dog walkers in my neighborhood because they are wearing dark clothes at night or early in the morning. I doubt it will happen, but hopefully a full story comes out of this.

If there is a minimum speed limit, it's illegal to bicycle on that roadway.

I haven't driven more than 20 miles or so outside 1604 on it, but I don't remember seeing any minimum speed limit signs. So you can't bicycle on 90? I see them doing that all the time.

If you see minimum speed limit signs on 90..then it's illegal. They may "do it all the time"..but it ain't legal.

well the same law as for people driving cars, but they have to drive near/on the shoulder, and move over to let vehicles pass.

Guys, you'd be amazed at how knowledgeable bikers are when it comes to roads, especially if they ride in groups and are part of a cycling team. They often are more knowledgeable about roadways and traffic bylaws than the local law enforcement.

After all, I'd rather have a crazy cyclist on the road than a texting teenager thinking the highway is the autobahn.

Moderator cut: orphaned

I have biked that stretch of road from Helotes to San Antonio Ranch and it is dangerous, I don't think I would do it again.
