Default San Antonio Idiot Driver of the Day Award!

I know we have had numerous threads on the bad drivers around town; but I thought we needed special recognition for the morons on a daily basis. As such, I am starting the San Antonio Idiot Driver of the Day Award!

First, the rules. Please post a time, location and a description of the vehicle and driver if possible; but no license plates or other distinguishing features (such as the "My child is an honor student at M2 Elementary" stickers).

That's about it. I'll start the ball rolling...

The first San Antonio Idiot Driver of the Day Award goes to the lady driving the maroon Dodge Durango on south 1604 this morning. I was in the right (slow) lane doing my usual 60 MPH in my little Toyota, and I passed her sitting in the left lane going approximately 50-55 MPH and completely oblivious a line of cars behind her! In her defense, she only had about 3-4 miles to go before the exit to 151, so I guess she felt she didn’t need to move over and let traffic pass because she was preparing to turn in about ten minutes.

Before anyone mentions it, I realize that technically it is illegal to pass on the right in Texas (Sec. 545.053 of the Texas Transportation Code); but honestly I would have to stop and wait for the parade of cars that were stuck behind this moron to join in, and I thought that would cause more trouble than it was worth. I did speed up a little to the posted 65 MPH speed limit so the folks stuck behind her could also get by, as she wasn't about to budge from the left lane!

I can't wait to hear who the other nominees are for this prestigious award!

Cheers! M2

I nominate the brilliant man in a "champaign" colored sedan who DEAD STOPPED to make a left turn in front of me on Tezel yesterday at approx. 6:40 p.m.!
He wanted to turn left, so never mind the pesky details of there being NO left turn lane and those ever pesky double yellow lines, an fairly fast moving traffic not far behind him could not deter this guy
I came SO close to slamming into him with my precious babies in the backseat.

Can I nominate an 'achievement' award as this woman consistently performs this maneuver day in and day out? The woman in the tan Nissan Altima who makes a U-turn on FM 78 regardless of oncoming traffic in order to get in the shorter line at Randolph!

That one reminds me of a guy who used to go down Bandera Road every morning at the same time as my husband. This guy would cut thru parking lots to miss the red lights. He would go into a parking lot on the right and then cut thru to the side street and make a right back on to Bandera Road. This went on for months.

I used to laugh because my husband would come home and be so angry (sorry, I shouldn't laugh but I couldn't help myself). I used to tell him "quit worrying about it". One time the guy cut right into a parking lot at Mainland/Bandera and my husband made a right on Mainland and stopped is truck and blocked the guy in the parking lot. He didn't get out or anything, he just sat there and stared at the dude.

I know that is wrong and I told him that he could get shot doing that but he didn't care.

I must confess I've thought of doing that myself, but I always feel guilty and chicken out.

Having met Mr TTG, I am not surprised that the moron he boxed in stayed in his car! But I am surprised he didn't end up hog-tying the idiot!

Actually, I had about five more nominations just from today's commute to and from work (30 minutes each way, so a total on-the-road experience of one hour). Most were last-second exit ditches from lanes that weren't the correct one. And of course whoever planted their car into the fence outside of Wilford Hall this morning between 5:00-5:30am should get today's trophy. I saw the skid marks on my way home and I still can't figure out how someone managed to put their car in such a location!

It's always exciting driving around here!

Cheers! M2

ohh it can happen, stupid drivers makes good drivers start doubting their skills, it can also cause a small drop of blood pressure.

Heres mine from yesterday I have two because both deserve the recognition.

at the end of rush hour yesterday around 9 am, I was driving back to beckman passing the parade that exits to Blanco Rd on 1604 I was going 60mph on the left lane and the right was lining up to exit on blanco, just after I am passing blanco I start picking up speed, then all of a sudden a small toyota suv ( either a 4runer or another explorer look a like) the lady was doing 50 mph or less, and just jumped to the left for no apparent reason. She stood there for about 1/2 mile I jumped to the right to cruse my exit was on Military Hwy so I cruised there but also had to speed up so she could get passed on the right (no choice)

Second:

I was heading to the yard, and I decided to stop @ Chase on 410/Military well on the exit to military exit some Idiot driving a brown chevy or GMC pickup driving from culebra was hopping on the freeway along with a brown car in front of him. Well I saw that the car was about 200-300 feet infront so I adjusted my speed so the brown car can hop in front and the jerk could hop behind. Well he got on his throttle to try and beat me, but it was too late he ran out of room, and was bout the end up underneath my trailer and on that bridge. When I noticed this I was amazed at his stupidity well I did the right thing and veered off so I could avoid crushing his ass. But I didnt end there! he still felt the necessity to speed up get on my left side honk and flipp me off I just smiled and went on my way. ( I knew he crapped himself)

My idiot of the day had obviously been going east on Wurzbach Parkway, crossed NW Military intersection, then went the wrong direction in the turnaround lane that is at that intersection(it was meant for those going west on Wurzbach to be able to go east). He then zipped across the westbound lane in front of me and another car and into the gas station. I'm telling my son, "Look at that idiot!" as he zips by. My son sees him trying to get back onto NW Military and says that he's probably drunk or on drugs. (Every crazy driver is drunk or drugged out in my son's opinion!) I told him the guy had to be lost. Then my son sees him on his cell phone! Had someone been using that turnaround lane, he would have been clobbered in his little car. Lost or not, what possessed him to go the wrong way on the turnaround lane?
