Default Help with WIC & Health issues in SA

DD is perfectly healthy except for food allergies. We will not be getting the H1N1 vaccine as we are religiously opposed to vaccines {not up for discussion}

I on the other hand am on meds for a thyroid issue that cause me to be immune suppressed. My endo's recommendations for the flu season, especially with H1N1 prevalent here, was to limit exposure as much as possible, and definately while they are giving the mist version of the vax. Anything with small children who are going to be getting the vax is out, and she is willing to give me a letter to that effect. This is being extra cautious as I've already had flu which turned into pneumonia three times this year.

DD needs to get re-certified for WIC, and I'm running into a brick wall. Texas allows for either parent or child to not attend appointments due to health issues, but in order to get our EBT card loaded for WIC I have to send a proxy to the appointment with the card. I don't have anyone to be a proxy, my nearest relatives are 12 hours away and the few local friends I have all will be getting the vax or in contact with small children who have just gotten it.

There has got to be a way around this, but I'm not finding it. I know prior to EBT when it was paper vouchers they would just mail them, which was easy. Now it's just send a proxy to get your card loaded.

Has anyone dealt with this or something similar? I called Barrio Health who our WIC clinic is through and they had no idea what to do either.

Try calling the City of San Antonio 3-1-1 phone line. They will either find an answer or refer you to someone who can assist.

Can just anyone be a proxy? I'm sure someone (including myself) would be willing to help if needed. I do work full-time but.......
