It's probably a signal strength issue. I used to see that a lot until a TWC service technician came out and replaced some cables and connectors both inside and outside. He also did something mysterious at the connection for my neighborhood which seemed to help.

yea, that does happen often. You just have to rebot it by unplugging and plugging back in. It happens a lot to us when it starts getting cold outside. Maybe they've fixed it since because we use to get really bad tiling too, especially when cold. During the hot months, nothing really ever goes wrong. With winter coming we'll see. Another thing about TWC that makes me mad is the DVR system. It stops recording your show even before it finishes. Anyone else have this problem too? I know there's an option to manually record it which fixes this problem but still, they should have the technology to make it stop recording when the show is completely over. I guess the time slots or blocks are uneven lots of times and that's what messes it up.

I have had Dish, DirectTv, and now TWC. I've had more "outages" and problems with TWC than I ever did with the others. Even when it rained, Dish/Direct di occasionally go out, but so has my TWC.

It is most likely a signal strength issue. Also, my boxes used to freeze a lot and I would have to reset them. I do not have this problems anymore since I got a TWC guy out here to install a signal booster.

twc guy said all cable boxes have different frequencies. When you select a hi-def channel and get that error, your cable box probably jumped on the same frequencies as your neighbor(s) boxes. Try switching to a low-def channel for 5 seconds then go back it. worst case scenario - reboot.
