Is there a place in SA to buy a world map about 5'x7'. It doesn't necessarily need to be framed, I can take it to Michaels or Hobby Lobby for that.

I need a really nice map for an office wall.
TIA

Try Mapsco:

610 W. Sunset Rd.
San Antonio, TX 78216
(210) 829-7629 or
(800) 798-2112
Hours:
M-F 9-6 Sat 10-4 (there is a coupon on their website but I didn't click on it)

Also, try Books a Million, B&N, maybe Hobby Lobby or Michael's.....college bookstores might have them, too, but they are probably not as nice.

BAM is right on your way home, too. Oh, so is Michael's and Hobby Lobby.

LOL I was just looking at Mapsco for myself.....I love maps! Weird, I know.

Do you know if HL or Michael's actually does carry them? I was just guessing on them....

TTG....Mapsco will be the place to go. That is all they have. Used to be called Ferguson's Map Co. It's it bit of a drive for you, but it will save going to all the other places. They will even have a selection....LOTS of maps.

Sapph....I'm a map freak. Srsly....my kids make fun of me. Haha....now they are old enough and they are showing signs of inheriting this evil trait. Most of mine are folded or roled up.....nothing on display. It's sort of like "Where's Waldo"...I can study maps for hours. Historical ones are even crazier...but I bet you could guess that about me.

I'm pretty sure () I have seen some nice framed ones at Hobby lobby. Not sure about Michael s. I'm betting Mapsco would for sure. If they don't have it they can tell you who does.

I still have a HUGE one hanging in the hall upstairs. It's down low where my kiddo could see it when she was little.

My husband is a map freak too. Just the other day my dd and I were at the little museum in Bandera, there was a map in there and we both said "dad would be studying this map if he were here".

I like the really old maps, those are cool.

I think that Mapsco is by my bosses house, I will tell him to check 'em out. THANKS!!

My undergrad degree is in Geography, so I have always been a map nut. Cartography was my favorite class my senior year, although hand-drawing the maps was pretty time intensive. These days everything is digital, to include the GPS I keep in my Jeep. I bought the topo maps so when I go offroading I have a good idea of the area I am in.

Mapsco is a great place, just south of the airport west of 281; and you can check their web site, they seem to have what you are looking for (http://www.mapsco.com/Search-World-Maps.aspx?CategoryID=86 - broken link).

Cheers! M2

Only the "cool" people will post in this thread because the title masks it as "fun" and "educational," thus, keeping the riff raff away.

Another vote for Mapsco. They need all the business they can get. When I was hunting for some rural land in the hill country to buy last year, I bought topographic maps from them. They contained all the old Indian mounds, cemeteries, mine shafts, etc. Good for finding old and weeded airstrips to land on (I mean uh, I had to check my oil...).

On another note, Barnes & Noble has a large map collection.
