These are battery operated toy hamsters that are making the list of the hottest toys Christmas 2009. And you can't get them anywhere except Amazon and Ebay for three times the regular price of $8.

Was wondering if anyone has seen them around SA.

Nope, but they are one of the hottest toys out at the moment, according to this article...

Quote:
Zhu Zhu Pets, Cepia, $22.99 to $41.99

Running white hot on Amazon, where different variations of this toddler favorite hold the top six spots on the best-selling toys list. Some users say they're finding these furry friends for as little as $8 at Wal-Mart, though keeping them in stock is an issue.
My wife and I have been hunting for them for quite a while now...

Cheers! M2

Funny as I just looked at their website this morning because the kids keep saying they want them. The website says they'll be available at retailers in the Fall. So I would assume it should be soon!

I did a product review of them a few months ago (the whole wheel, slide, car & all), and my kids loved them. However, they quickly grew out of it after a week..... I sold ours on craigslist. Amazingly, it didn't sell for a few days, but someone finally did buy it.

I've seen them at Toys R Us at the Forum. They tend to keep the hamsters behind the customer service counter, just ask for them. They always have accessories in stock more than the actual hamsters which sell out quickly. They will sell you 2 hamsters at a time, no limit on the accessories. Best time to go is mid week.

That's actually why I loved them! They weren't real!! But, my kids fell out of love with them within a few days.... Took up SO much space too! I'm actually glad they're gone. LOL
