I miss Jack in the Box and HEB... What the hell do they use as the "meat" for the tacos?? Wish I could have some delivered to me!

I miss having competition in the grocery industry here. Albertsons? Gone. Krogers? Gone. Independents? Cant compete with HEB. Walmart? Something just aint right about them....

Yeah, but I bet you would have a choice of where to buy groceries.

They're a lot better than Fred Meyer (owned by Kroger I think). Everything back there cost about 10% more than it does here. Stores are friggin massive too.

I miss competition too. In fact, I was mad when Albertson's left the market in 01, 02? That just left us with HEB basically. I don't count walmart since it's walmart and not the neighborhood ones. There's stuff that Albertsons had that HEB doesn't carry and so on. I miss there meat market, bakery, deli.....And Kroger? Couldn't beat the double coupon thing. Also, with competition in the market, prices seemed to be a lot lower at times. One store would run this deal, the other that deal and so forth. Oh well. Maybe one day TJ's will come in and actually be able to compete with the local/regional HEB giant.

TJ's as competition for HEB? I don't think so...TJ's (in my experience in the DC market, at least) was a more specialized market than massive grocery store. The stores I've been to were about 1/5 the size of a standard HEB, and really focused on natural or unique products. I'm all for TJ's, but not as a replacement for HEB.

Now give me a Wegmans and I'll be jumping for joy. Unfortunately, they're a chain that keeps themselves mainly to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states.

I always go to Sun Harvest, they have much better produce prices and a better selection of cheeses and juices than HEB.

I do miss the competition too, but even when we had all the other major stores, I usually prefered HEBs meat and bakery.

What's wrong with HEB exactly? Is there a lot of stuff I haven't heard about in regards to HEB? O_O
