Best pho soup IMHO is at Pho Cong Ly located on 300 W Bitters Rd just off 281. Try the #17 - my favorite

I've had decent pho at Big Kahuna on Ashby between San Pedro & Blanco. big kahuna, san antonio, tx - Google Maps

I've also heard that Saigon Express on McCullough has fantastic pho but I've never made it there personally to see. If you plug the address into Google maps, it gives you a marker near McCullough & Hildebrand, but it's actually about 2 miles south of that near McCullough & Dewey.

Default Pho

I tried pho at Big Kahuna, Saigon Cafe and Pho Ha Long(410 West)
At Kahuna the pho was to bland, at Saigon Cafee the broth was just tasteless and the meatballs taste like a rubber, Pho Ha Long was o.k. several times until my last visit, when I got spoiled meat. I never experienced a bad pho at Pho Cong, and other people reviews are consistently great.
I see good reviews about the Pho VN Bistro at Bandera Rd, but I didn't tried it yet.
Attachment 51245 at Saigon Cafe. Actually it looks better than it taste...

By the way, Big Kahuna is set to expand their menu and change their name (finally) to:

Pho Sure!

(I like it.)

The only place I've ever had pho is Pho San Antonio on Wurzbach at Evers. It was very yummy but I have nothing to compare it to and I don't know what "real" pho is, you know?

Did you know the Pho VN Bistro on Bandera is actually inside of a Shell station? I'm just saying.....in case you didn't realize and went looking for it sans a Tom-Tom one day. They seem to do a brisk little business there, so we have some brave souls on the NW side.

No, I've never been. It's at Bandera and Braun Roads...smells pretty good inside actually, and like I said, it seems busy enough. You find good food at some of the craziest places anyway! I would call first to make sure they are open in the evenings, though. I've been in to the gas side around 3-ish and I think the chairs were up on the tables as though they'd closed for the day.
