Hello SA forumers,

I just learned that your Lion and Rose Pub will be opening their first Austin location right near my house... I'm excited about it, as there is no sports bar currently in the area (Westlake), and I often have to drive quite a ways if I want to catch a PPV or NFL network game with other fans. The thought of having a place just down the street is enticing.

So, what do people in SA think of this place? Is it nice? Do they do anything special for Spurs games, etc? I think they have 4 locations in SA.

I like the L&R Pub...very cool decor/ambiance...etc. How about we swap Alamo Drafthouses for Lion and Rose Pubs? And while we're at it, could you all move your Ikea closer to us???
Thanks

I'll get right on that. I'd swap Ikea and Fry's for the Spurs. Someone on our board suggested that Austin will become a suburb of SA one day... which I would be fine with if we can build an arena and get the Spurs to move over here .

Did I mention I'm a Spurs fan? Also an NBA fan so having the Lakers and Mavericks come to town would be very cool too

ummm...let's not go overboard.
All things aside, I originally thought that moving the Spurs arena to NE SA was a pretty good idea - for everyone in the region.

It's okay...for a faux-pub. Food is edible (by bar-food standards). Decent beer selection. They do have lots of televisions, and screen lots of soccer games. And servers in plaid skirts.

All sounds good to me. I figured they'd be a little on the "faux" side because it is a chain (albeit a small local one). Still, there is nothing like it for 8 miles in any direction, and I prefer the pub-style atmosphere to the pure sports bar style.
