Default Judson 4 Drive-In Theatre. We need pictures!!

This is some info on the Judson 4 Drive-In by Scott Wayman. He gave me permission to post this on my theatre website. Both Scott (City of Live Oak) and I are looking for pictures of the drive-in. If any one has some, please DM me.

Tidbits of History,

Scott Wayman
Judson four Drive-In Theater

In 1977, San Antonio businessman Louis Braha opened the Judson Four Drive-In Theater at the corner of Toepperwein Road and IH 35 North. Many movies shared their debut with the theater, some being classics like Grease and Urban Cowboy.

A few of the movies that were shown at the theater were somewhat “racy” for the time and a former worker at the theater told me that people lined up all the way down the access road of IH 35 to see Angie Dickinson in Big Bad Mama. Although not confirmed, one person even told me that for one racy movie’s debut, the theater even had girls in bikinis, roller skating around the gravel lot. If you have any information on the Judson Four Drive-In, or any other historical information on the City of Live Oak, the Live Oak Historical Committee would love to hear from you. Scott Wayman 653-9140 ext. 261.

RGJ: Thanks, but I have already checked those sites. The problem is that the areial is taken after the drive-in was torn down and is modern showing the development on the site. I am looking for pics of the drive-in or aerials shot when the drive-in was operational. But good try.

Another try would be Tony Weissgarber, who's done aerials since mid 70-'s. He may have some filed away. www.aerialssatx.com

Also, since they took part of the property when widening IH 35, maybe the highway dept has old photos.

Thanks RGJ: I just talked to Tony Weisgarber and he doesn't keep any photos longer than 5 years. He asked that I contact International Aerial Mapping. No one answers at that number. I'll try tomorrow.

Thanks, I hope you enjoyed it. It took me over 31 years to put that info together. I started in 1978.

The drive-in was on the other side, where the Multiplex is located.
