Yes, but there are more San Antonians working and more out of work as evidenced here:
Bureau of Labor Statistics Data
What does my household income have to do with anything? I'm giving you the numbers...and you don't seem to like it.

Of course I would vote yes for any bond that came up. I want the current kids of NISD to have the same type of education that I had way back in the early 90s...small class sizes, good campuses, great teachers. If that means I have to pay more than that's what it takes.

So, nevermind frugal use of your tax dollars already being spent?

Did you overlook the fact that the labor force went up? You also didn't answer the question about how many times higher your household income is as compared to the SA average.

No, I didn't overlook it. I specifically pointed out the fact that that there were more working and not working. The debate is not how much your household or my household income is.

I agree (would vote "Yes" as well), but probably won't be here long enough for my son to attend school. He's 2 1/2...but we're most likely going back to San Diego before his schooling.

I see the money being spent every year with new schools, new teachers, and technology. It's well spent. But go ahead and keep your kids form benefiting from a better education (extracurricular activities, block schedules, smaller class sizes, language labs, electives, etc.) in 5 years because you kept $XXX million dollars in bond money from them 5 years earlier. Just please remember that when you start whining about it (if you are here when it does get to that point...)

Correct but that doesn't mean that it the case for MANY others. I'll tell you that mine is about 3x the average but that doesn't mean I want to just give my money away because someone else can't manage their own budget.

There are some great uses of money and this is a great district but that doesn't mean they NEED more. I just want to see it used wisely. Again, there is a lot of money that could be cut just from the architechtural portion of most of these new buildings. Again, the tax base is growing so the rate shouldn't need to grow to keep the budget at or above its current levels.

Oh, I'm sure. And I'm all for an active eye on the budget, a la NEISD. But the frenzy that cutting the block scheduling (amongst other things) would be 10 times worse at NISD since it's one of the largest districts in the state.
Cutting things here and there in addition to budgets cuts would probably be an ideal situation. Off the top of my head, I'm just not aware of a place where the budget could be cut (then again the last time I stepped foot in an NISD school was..hmm...early 2007?)

Since the NISD 2010 School Bond is being discussed, here is their web site info about past, present, and future bond issues:
Bond : Northside Independent School District - San Antonio, TX 78238
Does anyone know where NISD is in retiring old bond issues?
