Last Chilli Bowl
Sad but true the 67 year-old High School Football rivalry has come to an end Fox Tech which is one of San Antonio’s Oldest school will no longer have a football team…
I am an Fox Tech Alumni C/o 99, I wanted to get some feedback and thoughts on this happening?!?

Well they are turing it to a Magnet School, and taking away sports. Not all the Sports tho. Last year I was told they had a principle that got the enrollment up and the grades up to. They fired him and decided to do what they were going to do. That dude responsible for it is Duron.. All I know he ain't from San Antonio, so he don't know the HISTORY!!

FT has had some big problems though really since the 80s. Maybe the "change" will be for the better and eventually they can bring back football. yes, I know it wont be the same but lets just hope that they can graduate more kids and do away with the SAISD DAYCARE (unless they already have, it was still there when i was in HS)

I graduated from there in 2001 and it went downhill shortly there after. I heard they are doing away with the football program because there wasnt enough kids involved. I guess its good and bad...they can focus on their grades instead of sports. Chili bowl will be missed. I loved it. It was always good fun.

Yeah, but the fact is that Tradition is gone.. I feel bad for the kids that are juniors that were looking forward to being a Senior and playing Football, now they have to look at other schools to do that.....

One of the local TV stations had a story and interviews a few nights ago... with a large visual on the screen about the ' MAGNATE school'.

Speaking of high school football the whole shavano park and northside should be proud of Clark's 22-2 record since 2008.

Yeah...uh-huh...ok. What's this got to do with the Chili Bowl?
I was sad to hear there would be no more Chili Bowl. I didn't go to either school, but my parents had attended Lanier, so I would go in their honor. It was always a lot of fun!

As a '99 graduate of FT I am sad to see that tradition go, however, I hope that the school's transition to a magnet will serve as a catalyst towards a knew tradition of academic excellency.
To anyone who complains, all I have to say is, "get over it", since when does the continuance of a mediocre football program take precedence over the intellectual well being of the students. I would be more proud of my alma mater if it were known for producing productive members of society rather than winning a football game against another mediocre football team.
