My suggestion is for the Bexar Community Shooting Range on Trainer Hale Rd (far East side of Bexar County). I realize its not where the OP wants to go, but sometimes things are worth the extra time and distance. Great bunch of folks out there, low prices to shoot ($8.50 per shooter) and you can shoot as many guns as you can bring out there. The best thing to me as a firearms instructor is that YOU are your own safety out there...you dont have a gung ho range master screaming at you and treating you like a child. I cant say enough good things about those folks out there.

I am going to go ahead and second TexasCovertCarry in his recommendation of Bexar Community Shooting Range. They are definitely nice. They have two different ranges, one for rifles, and one for handguns.

I agree, some places which will remain unnamed but are located in the NE section of SA have a reputation for being "range Nazis." Unfortunately, some places like a previously mentioned range on the western edge of SA have the opposite problem, not enough range control! Usually I end up serving in that role as I have witnessed too much unsafe buffoonery out there to just stand back and allow it. It is sad that the range owners aren’t more concerned about it, it seems they are more focused on making money off the spent brass!

It sound like the Bexar Community Shooting Range has been able to survive without RSOs, but the ones at Bullis keep the range safe without having to be jerks about it.

Cheers! M2

LOL..the brass situation at the Bexar Community Shooting range is pretty lax.... as in, theres brass on the ground since the civil war

In addition to pistol and rifle, they also have a heck of a nice skeet area.

Default Pawn Shops That Sell Guns

Well, the title explains it...I am looking for pawn shops that carry guns.

I keep hearing tales of great finds at pawn shops, but I don't want to hit every pawn shop in the area to figure out which ones carry pistols and rifles.

I searched Yellow Pages Local Directory - YELLOWPAGES.COM and found four, none of which are in San Antonio; so if anyone knows of a pawn shop that has a decent-sized collection of guns, please let me know.

Oh, and a DM will work, that way rd2007 won't beat me there!

Cheers! M2

Babcock and Huebner....I think it's Alamo Pawn. I saw some in there last weekend. Also, there is one on Grissom next to Mr. Cod, and I've seen guns in there.

Honestly, if you are looking for a good quality used gun, take a drive up IH 35 to Cabelas. Pawn shops typically dont employ a gunsmith and you may be buying someone elses problem.

Thanks, I stopped by there on my way but they mainly had shotguns. Nothing wrong with that, I am just looking for some surplus military rifles.

TTC, I hit Cabela's all the time but they deal mainly with handguns and hunting rifles and shotguns. Again, I am looking for more old military hardware (SKS, AK, Mosin-Nagants); and I like to think I have a decent idea of what I am looking for and at...

Hahahaha! "The Hood!" Heck, I work about five minutes away from there!

Anyhow, thanks for the tip; I will drop by there and see what they've got!

Cheers! M2
