Anyone been to Alamo Muzzle Loading Gun Club? Index

a coworker was telling me about it today and it sounds like a great range, especially if you don't like anyone else being there. It's in La Coste.

There's a similar group up in Grapetown (about 11 miles south of Fredericksburg), I stopped by there one afternoon after I drove by and saw them shooting. You gotta love any organization that has this kind of history behind it...

Quote:

In 1887 a singing club and a shooting club merged (allowing members to sing while shooting) and as if that wasn't enough, Grapetown then started the first annual Gillespie County Schuetzenfest (shooting festival). The Handbook of Texas allows that during this festival, 140 kegs of beer were consumed in four days - but gives no information on the accuracy of the marksmen. (from Texas Escapes.com)
Grapetown is now considered a "ghost town" but the shooting club is still active. The folks there were very friendly, and invited me to come back up for one of the matches. They take a break over the winter months, but should be starting up again in March if I remember correctly...

Cheers! M2

Yep - gonna be there Sunday morning. Some of us are gonna meet at the Mexican restaurant - Appitito's - at 9 am, then be at the show at 10. I'll be on the red Harley Ultra....

Another great show, crowded as always and parking was a pain! There was still a line to get in when we left at 10:30 this morning, and we barely found a place to park when we arrived ten minutes before opening.

Simply put, there were lots of vendors, lots of guns and lots of ammo. I think with the problems they are having up in in with gun shows a lot of those folks are heading down here. I did see some SAPD in the parking lot but they didn't seem to be bothering anyone. There were also a lot of private sellers walking around with stuff, so none of the shenanigans that the TGS show up in Austin was pulling. Everybody was friendly and polite, as usual. This truly is turning into one of the best gun shows in the state if it isn't already...

Cheers! M2

Just another old milsurp rifle, a 1936 Finn; and sorry, that was all the allowance I was allowed to spend.

Sorry about being stuck, but at least you can catch up on CD-SA!

In the sweatbox..
I don't know what's up with the building, but it's almost 80 in here and some areas in your building are even hotter than that, especially that door entrance. I have the fan on, floor tiles pulled, and it's not helping any at all.
Did you see any LCRs? I got my $400 in at&t gift cards the other day, but my wife thinks they should go towards other things. I knew I shouldn't have told her about them.

Y'know, I could've sworn I saw that Alan Jones of AJC Sports (Google it) had one for $350, but I couldn't remember if that was a good price or not. His number might be on his web site, he usually has good prices as he is a high volume dealer (I've bought several pistols from him)...

If anyone goes tomorrow, please check out that table and see what he is selling the LCR for. I could also e-mail him and see. His site has very little Ruger stuff on it and no LCRs. $350 is a nice price
