Prescription Drug Abuse in San Antonio ?
I am trying to collect information for a project. See poll
http://micropoll.com/t/KDM8CZ7MD
This is regarding what you consider the most popular illegally used prescription drug in San Antonio, based on personal/direct observation (parent, nurse, police officer, etc).
Thank you

I use to sneak a few of my kids Flintstone's vitamins when I was putting them by their cereal bowls.

I would think drug abuse for narcotics would be pretty universal in the states. Price, the "high" and availability would be factors. I would thing Hydrocodone would be the cheapest and most plentiful narcotic available. Dilaudid/Hydromorphone probably gives the best high as it's 6x more potent than morphine. Fentanyl is pretty expensive and the high doesn't last long.

Yes, I agree: most commonly abused are narcotic painkillers ( Demerol, Hydrocodone, Oxycontin, Morphine etc.), then weight control diet pills and sleep pills.

What about tranquilizers? Still a problem...if you mellow out too much and too often! Pseudoephedrine is always in demand among certain people. One of those things not often prescribed (VA still prescribes it), but available non-prescription in limited quantities at pharmacies, with a signature and ID check. Big brother is watching the users!

Why not contact both the SAPD narcotics unit and the Sheriff's Office narcotics unit and explain to them what you are doing and why. Im sure they could give you very specific answers.

excellent advice, since the op is asking for personal info....it's doubtful that posters will respond with much detail in a public forum.

I think it depends on the group you are taking samples from. If it was students, stimulants would be top of the list. Ritalin etc. I think vicodin and percocet are more widely abused than Demerol.
