We moved into a 25 yr. old house over the summer. The a/c works great but I'm leary of turning on the heater until I get it checked out. I'm also leary of letting someone in my home to check it out, unless I know they have a good reputation.
Anyone have a recommendation for someone that can do this on the NW side of town (in the '50)?

Thanks!

If you are leary of letting just anyone in your home (I don't blame you at all) then you should just call any of the well known A/C companies in town. Any of them can check out your furnace.

one thing you can almost bet on....if your pick a place with the biggest yellow page ad or one that advertises on TV, you're gonna pay some bucks and will probably need some expensive repairs.

I believe that if you call CPS, they'll come out and do a free inspection. Or, at least they used to.

Well, I went ahead and checked their site, but can't find anything about a free inspection. But I do encourage you to give them a call. I know they did at one time. They started offering the service the year after I almost died from a leaking furnace, but that was around '91 or so.

Free is good!
