Good day all!

I am a single young professional and am looking into relocating to San Antonio or Dallas during the 2nd Quarter of 2010. I am in the construction management industry and would like to know the following:

- Which, of the two cities, has more opportunities for a junior-level management in the construction industry?
- How is the construction industry doing in these cities during this recession?
- What zip codes are best living conditions (ie: safe, friendly and diverse in entertainment)
- What are some of the usual activities do young professionals do during their free time?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your input!

I can tell you that there were a lot of projects that were started then subsequently stopped due to the recession. Lots of empty strip mall slots as well. Cheap labor is plentiful here and new housing construction, generally inexpensive . I'm sure you'll find the same in Dallas.
Construction is really not my field though. Maybe someone else will add to what I've told you.

What kind of construction management? Residential or Commercial? I believe there are several and sizable commercial projects either under construction or planned. Residential sales are up 25% from last year. Where you want to live depends on the kind of housing, neighborhood you want. Old and historic, new and sterile, it's all here.

I'm in commercial. I'm moving from Las Vegas, NV I have a lot of commercial (big and small) experience.

I'm currently looking at some statistics for each zip code areas in San Antonio but I've been on a look out on where they have more construction industry type businesses.

Do you have any suggestions on areas where there is an influx of young professionals (single income type)? Where do they usually live, play, etc? I'm pretty open to types of neighborhood: old & historic or new & sterile - I just want to live in an atmosphere where a lot of people in my age group is living
