Border Patrol Raid
Yesterday morning, the U.S. Border Patrol raided our subdivision. There were a lot of tools, ladders, and vehicles abandoned. Some contractor vehicles were inpounded. I heard that a lot of workers ran into the woods to avoid capture.
I found this quite interesting and have never heard of this. I won't assume that the CBP also hit some of the surrounding communites here in Alamo Ranch, but I wonder.
In terms of construction crews, it was a ghost town yesterday and is pretty quiet today.
Has anyone ever heard of this happening on consruction sites here in San Antonio?

Yes, I remember this happening a couple times in Wynwood of Westcreek and The Vistas of Westcrrek. I know that "skilled labour" is spread thin in San Antonio, you can tell simply by seeing the non-quality homes that have been going up past few years. I also think this is NOT a good practice for the BP, how many illegals are the really gonna catch this way? They all scatter away when they raid and i am afraid that some if not most will look for look to make money in other ways. hopefully not illegal ways.

Yes. I don't know how often this happens now, but I worked as a superintendent for a production builder in SA back in the 90's. This was a fairly common occurrence then.

It happens quite regularly. If fact - it almost always goes down just like you described. They show up in mass and the illegals flee. Most hide get the heck out of dodge for a few days or get captured.
I have seen the construction sites sit idle for a couple of days at most after this type of thing.

If they do this, it seems like checking IDs at the illegal immigration rallies would be an even better location to catch people who crossed the border illegally.

we have an equipment yard in Houston that is broken into about once a month. I've lost close to ten thousand dollars in tools and i know exactly where they are coming from. There is a crappy neighborhood of shacks, FULL of illegals with no legitimate profession (i'm not counting drug dealing, prostitution, and crime) just a few hundred yards from us. I wish the INS would do something about these people (because the police won't) and leave the ones with jobs alone! There are plenty of worthless illegals that should go first!!!

I think that would be profiling and make the national news. This would lead to an outpouring of criticism which would be awful from a PR perspective.
Do I wish it would happen - sure do.
But, I just don't see it happening anytime soon.

Let's remember that this is a question specifically about San Antonio. If you want to discuss illegal immigration in general, please move on to the Immigration forum.
