Hi! We are building in Alamo Ranch and scheduled to move in 5 weeks. I am interested in having plantation shutters installed. Does anyone have any thoughts/suggestions? My sister has used and suggested Budget Blinds. There is a franchise in San Antonio. Has anyone had plantation shutters installed, and if so, who did them for you? Thanks in advance for your time/help!

We went with "Affordable Blinds" and got decent prices and one of the nicest, most informative sales people. If you're interested I can PM info.

We used Budget Blinds too...one of our blinds broke a month after it was installed (some defective plastic piece on the inside) and they replaced the whole thing. No complaints here from them.

Hello ND! Welcome to SA! I'm in the design biz and just want to mention to avoid any blinds that my be of any synthetic material. There are some beautiful plantation blinds that are actually made of a plastic type material. Everything about them looks like real wood except the price. They even fool me unless I know what they are. The problem is that plastics tend to "yellow" with age.....and even quicker when they are exposed to high heat or sun exposure. Stick with a quality brand and real wood. There are many great products out there with competitive prices!

Nurse Dana, CostCo has great all wood plantation shutters made by Laura Ashley. They install them and CostCo is the best about backing up anything they sell. I have them in my home and they're top quality. Best of luck!

How much did it cost you and will costco send someone to install or did you shopped around for an installer? I have 26 windows that I need the blinds ranging from 11 x 72; 46 x 72; 35 x 72; etc. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

CostCo?????????? You're kidding! Not a member yet but I'll have to check it out! Thanks! I did have an appointment today but no proposal yet. Maybe by Monday. I was so overwhelmed I was only able to do a few rooms! Had to get to the Omni so I could watch the Spurs! GO SPURS! I am trying to become a good San Antonian! I've actually been watching them for a while now and they are 'my' team'! Does that make me official??!!

Something else to consider, since you are doing windows are getting the special film that blocks out certain percentages of thermal heat. We're having this done on our large arch windows in the front, which get the peak sun facing North.
