Hello all!
I'm currently living in Fremont, California...
I might be taking a job relocation to SA and wondering how MC scene is like there...any twisty hills? any motocross tracks? any dirt bike trails?
The city looks pretty flat from google map...
Anyone commutes on MC?

Ever heard of the Texas Hill Country? SA borders it. Lots of great riding out there, here's one particular run that's been going on for years...

The Bandera Breakfast Run

A great forum for any kind of riding that you can think of is Two Wheeled Texans.

As for commuting, traffic is a bit "aggressive" around here and there seems to be an inordinate amount of motorcycle accidents and fatalities in this city. Of course, not having a helmet law is a factor, as is there is an over abundance of incidents where people drink and ride. I rarely commute to work on my bikes (I have two), and if you are riding during rush hour you are really taking your life in your hands!

Cheers! M2

Thank you for the info...
NO Helmet law?!!! YIKES!
Here in California alot of people ride to commute because of the high gas prices and congested traffics...I ride to work because of that reason also but it wouldn't make sense if you can't lane share in Texas...

The Texas 81st Legislature did have SB 506: Lane Splitting for Motorcycles under consideration but it died “Pending in Committee” in the House when the legislative session ended in May. The Senate had passed it by a vote of 27-4, but that was it; it didn't get any further.

And just because there isn't a helmet law doesn't mean you can't wear one! I never ride without mine, I think it is a stupid thing to do and the majority of motorcycle fatalities you read about here mention the fact that the rider was not wearing a helmet.

Anyhow, the Hill Country is a great place to ride! Lots of twisty roads and little traffic. Just watch out for the wildlife and don't get too throttle-happy!

Cheers! M2

I know there are motorcycle riders here, but it seems like we lose one or two a week. I wouldn't ride here in town, but lots of people do.

There is a Dirt Bike club here:

Welcome to the DBSA!

They have a 368 acre lease that you can use 24/7 if you are a member, some decent riding out there...

Actually, I spent four-and-a-half years living just south of Baltimore (Glen Burnie). There is nice riding in that area as well, but the riding season is considerably shorter than it is here. But you can ride out to Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway or up to Ephrata, PA for the big get-together every month when the weather's nice.

But commuting is even worse there than it is here, hence our choice to move to SA.

Cheers! M2
