If I can share something else with you that started donations to the SAMM Ministries on my part. Many years ago I won approx $160.00 with a Lotto Quick Pick. After cashing in the ticket at a local Albertson's I deposited the money into my checking account. That same evening (it was cold and very late) I drove down to the Shelter and handed them a check for $100.00 . Yes I could have used the money or spent it on something I didn't need. Something that day made me think of the Homeless, maybe the cold weather, and I knew it was something the Shelter needed more than I did.

Merry Christmas and God Bless You.
Wellguy, the world would be a nicer place if everyone thought as generously as you do!

Another organization that can always use volunteers is the American Red Cross. I have volunteered for them as a teenager and then worked for them 2 years in Florida. At the time, 95 cents of every dollar donated went to the programs. That left 5 cents of each dollar for admin costs including the employee salaries.

We just recently took part in the Sortathon for the SA Food bank - we helped build the food boxes for seniors and disadvantaged before Christmas, so they would have good meals for the holidays. It was hard work (think warehouse) but we put together 500-600 boxes! They're on Facebook too, and you can sign up for email alerts. If you have a group of folks you can call and schedule a time to come out and help.
