It may not be FLorida, Hawaii or the Riviera but there's a whole lot of beach in Corpus!

STOP!!!!!! I am not going to the beach this year for vacation. DO NOT SHOW ME PICTURES OF THE BEACH! Yeah, there is some beach there just not what one typifies as a "beach vacation" w/ the rental condo's & houses littering the beach like you find at all of the other spots and all the "touristy" tshirt shops. But there is a GREAT aquariam there. Been YEARS since I've been to that part of the Texas Gulf Coast, can you still drive on the beach at N. Padre? Also, found a really nice resort over, I believe in Port Aransas last year but it was all booked up. Do you know anything about it? Tried to get dadof2 to buy a condo in Galveston when we were there 3 years ago and did not. When back at Spring Break this year and the same condo's have gone up in price 3x.

I guessed you haven't been down to Corpus in a few years from your earlier quote. Believe me, the drive into the city isn't much, but once you get to Shoreline, it's a whole different place from what you remember. Either someone had a serious epiphany or maybe they went to Florida and saw what's done to attract even more tourists, because in the past couple of years the changes to the city have been astounding! The Bay drive has been spruced up to the nth degree, the L and T heads look magnificent, the properties attractive and the parks...You've got to see to believe. They're working on expanding SPID over the bridge to Mustang Island and it's taking a bit of time but once done, it will be worth it. The investement will pay off big time.
We go down twice a year and spend a long weekend on Mustang Island which has gotten better and better every year since we started going six years ago. The beaches are kept clean year round, they've had a resanding project going on for four years that's done wonders to the place, and even though development has followed, it's still big enough not to feel over-crowded, except during the holiday weekends which is normal. Port Aransas and Rockport have always been quaint and artsy, but now they're no longer unknown.
Make a trip down there and see for yourself. You may refuse to go back home!

That's not corpus, that's most likely Port Aransas or Mustang Island.

Corpus' beaches are brown and dirty.

Mustang Island it is, specifically, but I doubt most would have known where that is. There are areas where the beach is somewhat murky around where the Nueces river empties into the bay and near the industrial canal, but I've seen clear, clean sandy beaches too up and down Shoreline.
