We're finally going to see The Lion King, I'm so excited!! We had planned to eat at La Frite or Azuca. Then I remembered the lights are up along the riverwalk and I haven't seen them in about 15 years. The hubs has never seen the riverwalk lit up. So now I'm thinking we should eat along the riverwalk, something I never do. I'm thinking either Iron Cactus, Paesanos, or Ancenar. The last time we went to The Majestic we ate at Bohanan's and while it was great, we don't want to spend that much tomorrow night.
Any other suggestions? We love both La Frite and Azuca and I want something comparable.
And what about parking? We used to park at the Frost Bank for free and just walk to the Majestic.

Acenar is pretty good food. not sure if they do this anymore, but you used to be able to get valet parking at hotel valencia (right next to Acenar). the deal was that you ordered a drink at the hotel valencia bar (vbar), and the bartender could stamp your receipt for a voucher for $5 valet parking.

again, the last time i did this was 1 1/2 ago, so i'd call the hotel to see if they still do that.
if so it'd be good food, cheap parking, close to the majestic.

we are trying to decide where to go eat also --- except we'll have 2 of our 3 kids with us ... a 13.5 yr old and a 7.5 yr old --- so we need to keep them in mind when choosing where to go --- the main problem with us choosing is that my hubs works on the riverwalk ... it's his "beat" that he is assigned to so he is pretty sick of of all the food on the riverwalk --- but he knows it's a treat for our kids to go and see the lights and walk along the riverwalk so he is happy to eat there, yet again, on his night off ...

I vote for Acenar or Houston Street Bistro (right next to the Majestic). We have regularly gone to Houston St. for dinner (reservations), and they are always conscious of the time. You won't see the riverwalk lights, however, like you would at Acenar (if you eat outside, that is).

How about The Palm?

They're doing some great specials while The Lion King is in town and getting out of there for about $35-40/person isn't unrealistic. Best thing about eating there is using their valet before the meal, keeping the car there through the show and walking right out, not having to wait for any of the parking garage shtick.

I'd also recommend Le Midi on Houston: No valet, but it's good food and the location is right.

Enjoy!

Well we went to Acenar before Mama Mia and almost missed the begining because the service was so slow. So for Lion King we went to Houston Street Bistro. It was wonderful and they are very aware of the show times. I would definitly call and make reservations if you go there! Good luck and hope you find what you are looking for!

Las Canarias in the Mansion Del Rio or Biga.

Biga is a longer walk.
