Panera - not at Quarry Village
A while ago it was posted that Panera will be going in at the Quarry Village development that is currently under construction at Basse Road.
Over the weekend I was in the area and noticed a sign in the Lincoln Heights shopping center that Panera will be opening soon there. It is in the same building as Sushi Zushi and the soon to be open Pei Wei.
Anyone else going to be in line with me and my husband on opening day?  |

That is a pretty major score for Lincoln Heights. That shopping center use to be totally full, but the quarry stole alot of their thunder, nice to see them getting some tenants back.

Yeah, looks like Panera went with the a lesser rent rate at Lincoln Heights over Quarry Village.
I don't even want to know what Quarry Villages rent rates are. |

We may not be there opening day, but very soon after, I hope! Some will rag on our "unsophistication" at looking forward to a chain restaurant coming to town, but  to them. Panera is very good! And besides, didn't most chains start out as ONE place and they were so good that people wanted more?? Anyway, Panera will be on our list of places to eat--my husband has never been. I love the french onion soup/bread bowl. Mmmmmmmmmmm! |

ooooh, yeah... shoot even my little bitty town in NE Ohio (about 50 miles south of Cleveland w/a population @30K)... had a Panera..... which was really shocking for that town...
but they do make yummy sandwiches, and great soup and other good stuff...

Most chains don't take off because they are so good that people wanted more. They have succeeded because they found a specific niche at a reasonable price, marketed themselves and made their products reliably predictable (or predictably reliable) so hurried consumers would not be surprised by what they received. You know what you're getting at McDonald's, for instance, or Starbucks, but neither provides the best product in its field. That said, Panera does a decent job with its sandwiches and breads.

Oh, pardon me! I think you'd have an argument on your hands re the Starbucks thing, but whatever.
IMO, if the food/coffee whatever is no good, they ain't building no more. |

Is it possibly because they are homebased in Ohio (at least I think that was the case)? I am praying that they bring on the others that are part of that 15 outlet franchise split between here and Austin...hopefully they are moving and get those others open in different parts of SA soon.
IF anyone is trolling this forum from that investment group, or knows any of them, PLEASE....1604 and Potranco/Culebra would be an AWESOME location!!!! |
