Wow....lot's of great info here!!! And to think, the progressives and liberals want to turn the whole country into Massachusetts...scary thought!!

I can't believe what you get for $300K there. That is sad. Yea, your in for a pleasant culture shock moving here! I've been here since June of 2009 and LOVE IT!!!!!!!! 300K will buy you a custom home on a couple of acres in the hill country with at least 2500 SQ Feet. I'm talking north of 1604 along 281.

As for temp housing. Randolph AFB has unfurnished 3 bedroom/2 bath rental town homes on base that they rent on a month to month basis for $700 a month. It's open to civil service and DOD. They're run by a civilian company called Pinnacle. You can google them for Randolph. We lived in the town homes for a month, they're not bad at all. It got us by until we could find the housing we wanted. They had plenty of openings too. It doesn't matter where/what base you will be working, they will rent to you. We had people from all over San Antonio living around us.

If your girls are in school, you may want to look into how the schools are rated. Here's a great place to look up the schools.

I stick with schools that are rated a 9 or a 10. Nothing lower.

You may also want to plug the address of any potential homes into the s*x offender registry since you have a wife and daughters. I like having it displayed as a map versus a list, I think it gives a clearer picture of how many offenders saturate an area. Here's the link:

Good luck with your move. I think it's a great place to be. I am amazed at how much Texas has to offer. I had a bad attitude about moving here and now I never want to leave.

Oh yes....and I don't know any Spanish.
