I currently live in the Chicago area but will be moving to SA within the year. I enjoy listening to talk radio and wondered if their are any SA radio stations with local programming (topics including politics, local news, events, etc). Most radio stations now have internet streaming capability so it might be another good way to get to know the city. Thanks.

yeah but...woai doesn't really have local content during the day...heck, they can't even be bothered to do traffic at decent intervals during the afternoon rush.

San Antonio has one of the best NPR stations in the country:

www.tpr.org

Of course, the majority of the daytime programming is national, but in the mix, especially during drivetime, are some wonderful local reports. They have an up and coming news department, and just hired a news director, so I anticipate this area growing. They are already offering a lot of podcasts on local news and events on their website.

KTSA (550) is the only true local talk station. They have local shows all day from about 6am until 10pm. The only exception is from 1-4 when they play the Dave Ramsey Show.

WOAI has gone downhill in my opinion and does not care about the local community any more, instead preferring to have national shows almost all day long.

Actually, WOAI has plenty of local programming:
Joe 'Pags' Pagliarullo - Mornings
Thompson Brothers - Evenings
Charlie & Chance - Nights

KTSA 550 and TRP are my personal favorites.
I have not been able to get KTSA to stream online for sometime, but TPR.org comes through a-OK.

KTSA changed ownership a few months back. The new owners turned the stream back on after CBS had turned it off.

Is iktsa still overloaded with commercials? I stopped listening because it felt like I was only listening to commercials during drivetime.

It has plenty of commercials, but I've never felt like it has significantly more than WOAI. That's just the nature of drivetime radio, IMO. If I get tired of commercials, I can just flip over to music on XM.
