Apologies first for being a downer, but the past couple of weeks have been hell for me. Its been one thing after the next. I've sought out all kinds of work , and my freelance business has nearly come to a halt because no one is buying right now. I have even been on craigslist for days now searching for labor and event gigs but have gotten 0 return replies from the ads.

And if things couldn't get any worse, Saturday night my car was involved in a hit and run (the other car took off) and I have like 1 gallon of gas left in there.

In a nutshell I am just feeling screwed. I can't even attend my classes right now because there's no gas. I thought about pawning my laptop but then I wouldn't be able to finish my school work or respond to job postings so thats just not an option, and is virtually my only outlet to the 'world' as I have no TV or radio or Ipod (pawned that).

Only option I have is to seek out some emergency assistant somewhere. I have to wait til the last day of this month for my school grants, and the fridge is already empty. 1 piece of T-bone steak, some potatoes, apples and lettuce left and I'm starving.

Is there anywhere I can go here in San Antonio, or online and have financial help?

There is a church near my house that has this on their website:

Food is available on an emergency basis weekly; In case of immediate need the church offices can be called for service.

riversoflifechurch.us - Ministries (http://riversoflifechurch.us/home/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=75&Itemi d=192 - broken link)

There is another one further down Grissom and I can't think of the name of it, but there is one day a week that you can get groceries from them. If I drive by there today I'll try to grab the name.....Good luck to you.

What side of town are you on? Where do you attend classes?

What school? College? Ask the counselors too, they usually have sources or connections. I am praying that good things go your way.

food stamps/Lone Star Card. You will most likely qualify, esp if you're in school. A single person can get $150-200 on a Lone Star Card every month, depending on your income. That's what it's there for...use it if you need it, then stop it when you don't. Good luck!
