Hope someone can help me with this. I live in the Alamo Ranch area, 1604/Culebra. I'm looking for a someone who knows or has used a company who does the 'skim-coat' on the part where the concrete foundation meets the 1st row of brick on the foundation of the house. My builder called this 'the pretty coat', but I'm sure there is a more technical name for it. Builder is now out of business and I need to have this done. Sort of like icing on the sides of a cake, for appearances only, but need to get it done as I have house up for sale and it looks better to have it done. THANK YOU for any help you can give me on this.

Go find an area under construction and talk to the masons - bet you can get one of 'em to do it as a side job!

It shouldn't be that hard to do yourself. Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot, tell them what you're trying to do. They probably even have the stuff already premixed and just buy a trowel.

Use a good vertical repair material. Pavecrete made by Lyons is used in commercial repair. Many contractors just use mortar mix with a liquid bonding agent as an admix.

not sure how the skim coating works on the sides of a house, but I had some done on a patio and I wouldn't do it again. I think the advise from the other person about check at a new construction and/or with a masonry company or bricklayer and see what they say.
