I am planning on running my first marathon here in San Antonio. Just wondering if anyone else has done it. Any advice. Does anyone know a coupon code for registration?

I believe you'll find the discount code you're looking for in this thread:

$10 off registration for 2009 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

And the discussion of last year's marathon in this thread:

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, Nov. 16, 2008

Note: You should all register early if you want to have a cheaper price for the Marathon or the 1/2 Marathon run. The more you all wait , and wait the more you all have to pay.

Has anyone participated in the Carrabba's Half Marathon organized by the SA Road Runners?

It will take place June 19th of this year.

Carrabba's Classic Half Marathon, Relay & Nature Walk in San Antonio, TX

I am currently training for my first half in March and am looking for a local follow up shortly after so that I can keep the intense training going.

The 13 miles are entirely within the park, any word on how major some of the "hills" are? I assume the course is equipped with restrooms and water stations?

My concern is the link above suggests splitting the 13 miles between 3 friends as it is promoted as a "relay" event...so if anyone has done the full 13 at the park in June conditions I would love to hear how ya fared.

Thanks, cr

HAVE FUN!!! We WALKED the 1/2 marathon this past year - it was GREAT - a bit warmer than anticipated - but a great feeling to cross that finish line!!!

cr - McAllister Park is, in my opinion - FLAT.......no worries on 'hills'. Our Nature Hounds meetup group circles around the city going to all the local parks for 6-8 mile hikes and McAllister is one of the easiest walks we do....if you NEED to train on hills - Eisenhower Park is the place to go - at NW Military Hwy and Loop 1604 near Camp Bullis. June will bring VERY WARM temps....and that may be why they suggest a relay approach.....
